Rock Wrens

written by Alex Lamoreaux

Although quite common here in Idaho anywhere there are rocky slopes, the Rock Wren was a lifer for me. I saw my first few in the Snake River Birds of Prey Area. These wrens are small but are very loud and when one is around, you will hear its trill-like call very easily. The Rock Wren builds its nests inbetween rocks and I was able to see quite a few individuals carrying nesting material.

That photo is the perfect profile of a rock wren. Very nice! Congrats on the lifer!
