It was a great morning at Scotia Barrens IBA. Overall I saw/heard over 150 individual warblers while I drove through Scotia Barrens. Highlights were an Orange-crowned Warbler near the powerline close to the south entrance, a singing Mourning Warbler that I got great looks of at the research shed, a Wilson’s Warbler singing and jumping around low in some bushes and a singing Swainson’s Thrush just past the research shed. Chestnut-sided Warblers were dense through the entire drive and I got some excellent looks at at least 5 Bay-breasted Warblers. Other interesting birds were two Red-breasted Nuthatches and several White-crowned Sparrows. I managed to get photos of some of the warblers, unfortunately the Mourning Warbler was uncooperative and took off as soon as I pulled my camera out. The full list of what I saw are after the photos.
