Migration drum continues to beat

Regional Overview

Migration was widespread and moderate last night across the region. I ran the radar script a bit late so you can’t see the dusk lift off, but you can see that birds are moving northward. There has been a lot of shorebird activity recently so watch for unsettled weather to put birds down.

Sorry I have been lacking in my state analysis but my current schedule doesn’t allow as much time for this as I would like.

I need your help! These reports will only be as good as the feedback I get on these updates. Please leave comments on interesting patterns of migration you are seeing in the field so I can incorporate some ground truthing to my forecasts and predictions. Thanks!

I am a young ornithologist originally from PA but now living in central New York. I am pursuing a master's degree at Penn State University studying grassland birds and their relationships with different agricultural practices. When I am not working feverishly on my thesis, I enjoy adding new birds to my county, state and life lists, digiscoping and getting outdoors. I am active in the Pennsylvania birding community as chairman of the bird records committee, as well as a reviewer for sightings submitted to eBird. Some topics that really interest me are migration, bird distributions and vagrancy. Contact me if you have any questions about birds and birding in PA.
