Barnacle Goose in Delaware

Alan Kneidel and I found a Barnacle Goose along Rt. 9 in New Castle County, Delaware this afternoon. The bird was at the intersection of Walker School Rd. and Rt. 9 (Flemming Landing Rd.) and was in a flock of 300 or so Canada Geese. If accepted by DOS, this will represent the second record, I think, for Delaware. The bird was not banded and showed no sign unusual feather wear.

The first three photos were digiscoped – iPhone 5 + Vortex Razor HD 20-60×85 & Phone Skope Adapter. The last two photos were taken with a Canon SX50 HS. The Barnacle Goose was my 50th digiscoped species for the year! Thanks to Eagle Optics for lending me the Vortex Razor HD spotting scope for my Phone Skope Big Year!
