Rufous Hummingbird–Juniata County, PA

Chad Kaufman and Aden Troyer teamed up to run a fall/winter hummingbird contest in Juniata, Mifflin, Perry and Snyder County area of central Pennsylvania for this season. Their efforts to get out the word concerning attracting and reporting rare hummingbirds have paid off, with 3 Selasphorus hummingbirds having already been found in Juniata County this year. Wayne Laubscher was able to visit, capture, and band the latest Juniata County Selasphorus on November 17th, and confirmed that the bird is an immature female Rufous Hummingbird. This hummingbird is coming to a feeder at the Kalse residence in Port Royal. Below are photos that Wayne Laubscher and I took.
