Ten People to Follow at #NAOC2016

Not everyone can make it to the 2016 edition of the North American Ornithological Conference in Washington D.C. this week. However, the twittersphere has been doing a great job keeping the rest of us up to date on what is going on. Below are some of the most active accounts that I follow to keep up with interesting NAOC news. Let me know if there are any to add!

@NAOCBirds is the official account for the North American Ornithological Conference.

@sketchbiologist This science writer and artist is making fantastic #biosketches for the researchers at NAOC. Check out some of her biosketches in her Twitter feed.

@TheBirdist is a DC native and source of quality local info.

@JERutter is a grad student studying Piping Plovers, an occasional Nemesis Bird contributor and social media manage for @NAOCbirds.

@KennKaufman probably doesn’t need much introduction, but he is at #NAOC2016 tweeting interesting points from the talks he attends.

@RallidaeRule Auriel studies rails, how did you guess? I’ve found more interesting scientists to follow on Twitter by watching who RT’s her posts. Another good one to follow if you are interested in issues around #womeninstem or stats.

@tom_auer is a GIS Developer at @CornellBirds. Unclear whether he is attending the conference or just birding…

@stevedudley_ does social media from the BOU.

@WildlifeBioGal has been tweeting and Periscoping up a storm, pretty great to be able to listen in AND watch presentations I would otherwise miss!

@woodcreeper is the director of the Cape May Bird Observatory and has been tweeting at the conference.

Who else should be added? Let us know in the comments!
